Let’s Unpack That
We know starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. Here are some answers to help you feel more ready to begin.
-
The first session is focused on getting to know you—your background, current concerns, and what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore your goals, answer any questions, and begin building a foundation of trust. Think of it as a collaborative starting point, not a test or an interview.
-
If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply curious about understanding yourself more deeply, therapy can be a supportive space to explore those feelings. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit—therapy is about increasing insight, building tools, and creating meaningful change.
-
Life Threads offers a range of options for session rates that vary based on the level of therapist experience and the service you are seeking. We are an out-of-network provider, which means you pay us for services and then most PPO insurances with out-of-network benefits will reimburse a percentage of that fee to you.
Depending on your insurance carrier and plan, coverage for out-of-network sessions may range from 50–70% of the cost. We can submit claims on your behalf, and your insurance company will send you reimbursement directly by mail.
Call our office to speak with our Client Care Coordinator to learn more about session costs, superbills, and to find the best therapist match for you.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to establish consistency and build momentum. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your needs, goals, and progress. This is something we decide together.
-
We’re currently in the process of securing a physical office space and will be offering in-person sessions soon. In the meantime, we recommend starting virtually. That way, you'll already be connected and ready to transition once we open our doors.
-
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy to clients located anywhere in California. Online sessions offer flexibility and convenience while maintaining the same clinical depth as in-person care.
-
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice—or missed appointments without notice—will be charged the full session fee. We understand that life happens, and we appreciate your understanding as we hold this time specifically for you.
