EMDR Intensives
EMDR Intensive in West Los Angeles
An EMDR intensive in West Los Angeles gives you extended, dedicated time with an EMDR trained therapist: focused reprocessing work in longer blocks, instead of starting and stopping inside a weekly hour.
Life Threads Therapy® offers EMDR in intensive formats alongside standard weekly sessions, in person at our West LA office and virtually throughout California.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy recognized by the American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. In weekly therapy, that work happens roughly an hour at a time: you settle in, the processing deepens, and then the session ends and life resumes until next week.
An intensive compresses the same structured, eight-phase protocol into extended sessions. Instead of warming up and winding down every week, you and your therapist stay with the work: more time inside the actual reprocessing, fewer restarts. Nothing about the method is skipped. Preparation and stabilization still come first, and every block still ends with closure, so you leave grounded.
Who Intensives Tend to Fit
Extended formats suit some situations unusually well:
- You have a specific memory, event, or stuck point you want to work through with focus
- Weekly therapy has helped, but you keep hitting the same ceiling
- Your schedule makes a standing weekly appointment harder than a few concentrated blocks
- You have done stabilizing work before and want to move into actual reprocessing
When a Different Starting Point Is Better
Intensives are not a shortcut. Some people benefit from building foundational stability and coping skills before trauma-focused work begins; that is not a detour, it is part of doing EMDR responsibly. During your free consultation we take the time to understand where you are and whether an intensive, standard weekly EMDR, or another approach entirely is the right fit right now.
EMDR Trained Therapists, Not a Weekend Certificate
Intensive work concentrates a lot of processing into a short window, which makes the training behind it matter more, not less. Bree Anthony, MA, LMFT completed 40-hour EMDR basic training plus consultation hours meeting EMDRIA requirements, and brings a background in brain mapping and neurofeedback to how she reads your nervous system's pace. Lyndsay Mclaren, LPCC is EMDR trained with over 11 years of clinical experience across outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings.
Both offer EMDR in person at our West Los Angeles office and virtually throughout California. Scheduling and fees for intensive formats depend on length and are worked out at your free consultation; standard sessions at Life Threads are a flat $200.
Getting Here, or Not Having To
The office is at 2001 S Barrington Ave, Suite 215, between Santa Monica and Culver City: easy to reach from the 405, Sepulveda, and Barrington itself, with attached parking that is complimentary after 6:00 PM and on weekends. For a longer intensive block, that logistics math matters.
If coming in does not work, EMDR intensives can also run over secure telehealth anywhere in California. Questions first? Reach out through our contact page any time.
