Virtual EMDR

Online EMDR Therapy in California

Online EMDR therapy in California means doing real reprocessing work from your own space, guided over secure video by the same licensed, EMDR trained therapists who see clients at our West Los Angeles office.

Telehealth EMDR has been shown to be effective, and for many clients the comfort of working from home actually supports the process.

Does EMDR Work Over Video?

It is a fair question, because EMDR is more structured than ordinary talk therapy. Sessions use bilateral stimulation: guided eye movements, gentle tapping, or auditory cues while you hold a difficult memory in mind. All of that adapts to a video session, with your therapist guiding the pace on screen exactly as they would across the room.

The structure does not change either. The same eight-phase protocol applies: preparation and stabilization before any reprocessing begins, and closure at the end of every session so you finish grounded, not raw. What research measures in symptom reductions, clients describe more plainly: something that once felt enormous simply settles.

Telehealth EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles

Plenty of our virtual clients are not remote at all; they are in Los Angeles, sometimes fifteen minutes from the office. Telehealth EMDR therapy in Los Angeles is often a traffic decision: a 5pm session without the 405 sitting between you and it.

It also does not have to be either-or. Clients can meet in person at our West LA office on S Barrington Ave when it works and switch to video when it does not, with the same therapist and the same treatment plan either way.

What You Need for a Virtual Session

Virtual sessions run over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. Setup is simple:

  • A private, quiet space where you will not be interrupted for the full session
  • A computer or tablet with a camera, on a stable connection
  • Headphones help, both for privacy and for auditory bilateral cues
  • A few minutes afterward to land before you jump back into your day
